History | Banana has the scientific genus name Musa, an Arabic word meaning banana. In some Middle Eastern myths, banana was the three of knowledge fruit in the Garden of Eden. The fruit was originally grown in South East Asia. Currently, banana is cultivated in more than one hundred countries including the East Mediterranean.
